GEA Group agencies in Spain billed 700 million €uros in 2008.
|
Members of GEA in Spain and Andorra, comprising more than 900 travel agencies, billed as a whole 698.2 million in 2008, which is 11% less compared to the previous year. In 2008, factors such as economic recession (prominent in the second half), the restrain on average revenue per customer (a wide selection and low prices of all suppliers), and personal trips customized by agents, diminished the overall performance of the Group, which still maintains a considerable turnover and market share.
Sales distribution by product segments in 2008 was as follows: Wholesale holiday travel companies 47.21%; Airlines 32.57%; hotel chains reservation companies 12.14%; local and international railroad companies 4.05%; marine ticket companies 1.87; Car rental companies 0.99%; bus companies 0.86%, and Travel Assistance insurance companies 0.31% of the nearly 700 million euros.
